Tweet chats and modern learning

I was browsing and came across a post from Liz, who participates regularly in @lollydaskal 's tweet chat #leadfromwithin. Browsing, post, @person, #subject all less than 10 years old. Now look at how she made a digest of what she learnt and what she learnt in an hour looking at snippets of text scrolling by. Are we becoming dumber as ar result of omnipresence of Internet as some posit or is that just true for "the masses"? I also see tribes of really smart people organizing themselves in several tribes, where they get extremely accelerated learning and become much smarter faster than they ever could have in a non-connected world. http://bit.ly/fpFUtn

What a wonderous world...

I was doing some work for a client in the Bay Area this week. We had a blast together and I was again humbled by how well the human process technology we have developed over the years worked. I continue to be amazed at how little we learn about how to work together effectively and how this stuff that is initially is perceived as "fluffly" rarely fails to deliver better results (not mention more fun) than traditional ways of meeting.

I got up at 4:45. I had a call at 5 with a partner in NYC and the CEO of a company, who was in Holland. We talked in a three way, crystal clear conference call on Skype. I was in the lobby, sipping coffee and talking on my iPhone. All for free. I am getting old! I marvel at this stuff. I can still remember the static and delay on a call between the US and Holland not so long ago as well as the $ 9.50 per minute price tag...

Off to the airport in a bit for a slow week with my family. I'll miss the weather and the customer service. Enjoy your weekends!

What are some of the top lessons entrepreneurs learn in their 1st year?

1. Slow down regularly to go faster
2. First who, then what
3. It's the people, stupid, not the plan
4. There is virtually nothing that you cannot self-finance
5. Grow slow - Google, Twitter and Facebook are exceptions
6. Leverage the power of differences - organize your best possible opposition
7. Do you want to be rich or are you deeply passionate about what you want to create? It better be the latter, otherwise you will run out of juice fast.
8. Internal formal meetings do not solve any problems, they foster them.
9. Focus. F-O-C-U-S: one thing is better than three, three is better than five.
10. Have fun, every day. If you aren't, find out why and be ruthless in eliminating the cause
